About me & my work
Hi! I am Ecaterina(Catia) Gittard, I am a licensed clinical social worker and a certified brainspotting therapist. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill in 2015. I studied psychology in my home country Moldova and I can speak and provide therapy in English, Romanian, and Russian.
I use a variety of mindfulness techniques and therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Guided Meditation, Emotional Freedom Technique, HeartMath, and Trauma Informed Therapy. I strive to create a safe and trusting relationship where clients feel heard, understood, accepted, and empowered.
I would say, when traditional talk therapy doesn't work, and trauma has been stored deeply for a short period of time or for many years, a brain-body based therapy approach, such as brainspotting therapy, can help you release and clear out the trauma from your system. Brainspotting therapy has a beautiful, powerful, focused mindfulness approach, where you can identify, process, and release core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, and other difficult emotions.
